Problems
Create a portfolio site from scratch that displays Semantic HTML, CSS, and Javascript. A list of functional, precision and “level-up” requirements were given as a guideline and can be viewed here.
Process
Wireframes
Wireframes were created in order to show the layout of the site and where content would live as well as to plan information architecture.
HTML and CSS
Once wireframes were created and content was planned the content was then drafted as HTML. The Bootstrap library was used in order to implement CSS styling and maintain the highest level of responsiveness along with some additional rules to override native Bootstrap styling.
Javascript
One element of Javascript was added in order to meet the highest level requirements of the project.
Solution
This site utilizes a single page layout with a sticky navigation bar in order to make it the most user friendly organization and aesthetically pleasing to make sure the main focus of the site is finding the content needed in order to obtain jobs.
Results
While this project was a school assignment it allowed me to exhibit my skills in both visual design and development and push myself to work in a very short time crunch. My project was very successful and used as an example to demonstrate to my peers.
Reflection
If given the chance to work on this project more I would finish the portfolio pages and case studies in order to complete the site. I would like to give the additional pages a 2 week timeline as well in order to imitate a real professional design sprint.
